Built by a Traveller. Run with Responsibility.
Raj Kiran Atagaraha
Founder, Meghalaya Cabs — Bridging Hearts Across India
I was born in Shillong — a place where clouds do not just pass by. They stay, breathe, and become part of your childhood. Growing up in Meghalaya gave me something no travel brochure can teach: respect for the mountains, the roads, the weather, the people, and the quiet discipline required to move safely through the North East.
But my love for travel did not stop at home. Over the years I have travelled across different parts of India — from the hills and forests of the North East to long road journeys across western and southern India. I have driven through changing landscapes, stayed in simple towns, explored temples, beaches, highways, ghats, villages and cities, and understood one truth very clearly:
It is about trust.
It is about the driver who arrives on time. The vehicle that is clean and reliable. The route that is planned properly. The local person who tells you what is worth doing and what is better avoided. The small decisions that make a family feel safe in an unfamiliar place. That is the idea behind Meghalaya Cabs.
Why I Started Meghalaya Cabs
Many travellers come to Meghalaya with excitement — but also with confusion.
I have seen these doubts again and again. I started Meghalaya Cabs to bring structure, honesty and accountability into local travel planning. This is not a taxi listing service — it is a travel support system built by someone who knows both sides: the traveller's anxiety and the local operator's ground reality.
Our goal is simple: to help guests experience Meghalaya and the North East with comfort, clarity, and confidence.
A Traveller Before a Founder
Before building this service, I was already a traveller at heart. I have done solo trips, long drives, and treks where planning, patience and presence of mind matter more than fancy words. Solo trekking especially taught me humility — mountains do not care about your ego. Weather changes. Roads surprise you. Time estimates fail. And when you are alone on a trail, you learn to respect preparation.
That same mindset shapes how we plan trips for our guests. We do not believe in overloading itineraries just to make them look attractive. We believe in practical travel — we tell guests when a plan is too rushed, suggest better routes when needed, and care about rest time, road conditions, local closures and family comfort.
A Writer's Eye for Stories
I am also a writer and storyteller — the published author of the novel The Golden Temple. Writing has changed the way I look at travel. Every journey has characters, moods, pauses, conflict, beauty and memory. A waterfall is not just a sightseeing point. A road is not just a route. A village is not just a stop.
There is always a story behind the mist, the marketplace, the driver's local knowledge, the family photo near a viewpoint, and the silence after a valley opens up in front of you. This is why Meghalaya Cabs is not only about cars. We want guests to remember more than kilometres covered — we want them to remember how the journey felt.
Professional Background, Local Commitment
Along with travel and writing, I come from a professional background in technology. I have worked with companies like PhonePe and ZestMoney, on systems trusted by millions of users every day. That experience taught me something simple: when people depend on you, reliability is not optional.
The same discipline runs through how we manage enquiries, bookings, vehicles, drivers and communication. In simple words: we are local at heart, but we operate professionally — better coordination, clearer communication, documented bookings, and a serious approach to customer service. The North East deserves tourism that is warm, reliable and well-organised. Meghalaya Cabs is my effort in that direction.
What You Can Expect From Us
When you book with Meghalaya Cabs, you are not just hiring a vehicle. You are trusting us with your time, safety, comfort and memories. We take that seriously.
You can expect honest suggestions, practical itineraries, reliable local drivers, transparent pricing, and support when you need it. We may not promise impossible luxury on mountain roads — but we do promise sincerity, responsibility and effort. Because for us, travel is personal.
Many guests come to Meghalaya once in their lifetime. Some come with parents. Some with children. Some come after years of waiting. Some come to heal, celebrate, explore, or simply breathe. We understand that. And that is why we do the work with care.
