Click 'Book Now'

Hit the gold 'Book Now' button on any package card, or visit /booking directly. You can also message us on WhatsApp — we respond within 30 minutes.

Tip: Booking ahead? We recommend confirming at least 48 hours before your trip to secure driver availability, especially during peak season.
3
🚗

Select Your Vehicle

Choose from Sedan / Ertiga (up to 5 people), SUV / Innova (up to 7 people), or Tempo Traveller (10-12 people). Our team will share the exact fare for your chosen vehicle and route via WhatsApp.

Tip: Traveling with elderly passengers or heavy luggage? The SUV/Innova has higher ground clearance and more boot space — strongly recommended for mountain roads.
4
📝

Fill Your Details & Special Requests

Enter your name, phone, travel date, and number of people. The Special Requests field is your direct line to us — use it for: wheelchair access, slow driving, child seat, motion sickness, infant stop frequency, vegetarian food stops, etc.

Tip: Be specific in Special Requests. We brief your driver the night before. 'Please drive slowly on curves, one passenger has motion sickness' is acted upon — guaranteed.

  • NEIGRIHMS in Shillong is a full national medical institute.

⚠️ Avoid: Any cave visit (damp, cold, narrow). Nongriat trek is entirely off the table.
🍼

With an Infant (3-12 months)

Paced travelSafe stops
  • Carry a car seat if your infant is under 9 kg — mountain roads are winding.

  • Dawki boating is infant-friendly (calm water, life jackets available).
  • Mawlynnong village is flat and very clean — safe for infants.
  • Cherrapunji is ok for infants 3 months+ — 2-hour drive on winding road.
⚠️ Avoid: Mawsmai Cave — narrow, humid, and not suitable for infants.
👥

Large Group (6+)

Multi-vehicleGroup coordination
  • Book a Tempo Traveller (10-12 seater) to keep the whole group together.
  • For groups of 10+, we can arrange two vehicles — great for flexible timing.
  • WhatsApp us directly for multi-vehicle coordination and group logistics.
  • Designate one group point-of-contact to liaise with the driver.
  • Plan 20% extra travel time — loading/unloading larger groups takes longer.
⚠️ Avoid: Splitting into multiple cabs booked separately — coordination becomes difficult on mountain roads.

Places Guide — What to Know

✅ Good to Know

Laitlum Canyon

📍 35 km · ~45 min from Shillong

Visit before 8 AM. Afternoon fog can block the view entirely. Bring a rain jacket year-round.

Dawki / Umngot River

📍 95 km · ~3 hrs from Shillong

Boating is best October–April (crystal clear water). Book via your driver. March has the famous Dawki Boat Race.

Mawlynnong Village

📍 90 km · ~2.5 hrs from Shillong

Visit on weekdays — weekends get crowded. Allow 2 hours minimum. Bamboo tree house viewpoint available.

Krang Shuri Falls

📍 120 km · ~3.5 hrs from Shillong

Must wade through water to reach the pool. Carry a change of clothes. Avoid June–September (strong currents; entry sometimes closed).

Nongriat Double Decker Trek

📍 65 km · ~2 hrs from Shillong (to Tyrna trailhead)

3,500 steps down + 3,500 back = 6-7 hours total. Only for fit adults. Start by 8 AM. Carry 2L water minimum and hire a local guide.

Cherrapunji (Sohra)

📍 54 km · ~2 hrs from Shillong

~12,000 mm rain/year — waterproof gear is non-negotiable. October–April is safer for roads. Nohkalikai Falls is most powerful July–September.

⚠️ Handle with Care

Nongriat Trek in monsoon (Jun–Sep)

Paths become dangerously slippery. Some injuries reported. Entry is sometimes closed by local authorities.

Krang Shuri during flooding

Water rises dramatically after rain. Do not enter the pool if it rained in the past 24 hours.

Overnight stay at Dawki border

Accommodation is very limited and basic. Better to base in Shillong and do Dawki as a day trip.

Night driving after 9 PM on hill roads

Many sections have no guardrails and heavy fog. Our drivers avoid unfamiliar mountain roads after dark.

Solo treks without a guide

Nongriat and David Scott Trail are not always marked. A local guide (₹400-600/day) is strongly recommended.

Jaintia Hills coal mine roads (Jowai)

Heavy truck traffic on some stretches. Our itineraries route around these sections where possible.

Veg vs Non-Veg in Meghalaya

Meghalaya's local Khasi cuisine is predominantly non-vegetarian — pork, beef, and smoked meats are staples. However, Shillong has a strong vegetarian restaurant scene, particularly in Police Bazaar and Laitumkhrah areas. Most dhabas serve dal, rice, and sabzi. In Cherrapunji and Dawki, vegetarian options become very limited — pack ready-to-eat meals or snacks if you're strictly veg. Non-veg travelers are spoiled for choice throughout the state. Halal options are available at Muslim dhabas in Shillong (Laban area).

How to Book a Local Guide

Why hire a local guide?

A local guide dramatically enriches your experience — especially for treks, Khasi cultural sites, and spots your driver cannot accompany you on foot.

Typical costs:

  • Nongriat Double Decker Trek guide: ₹500–700
  • David Scott Trail guide: ₹400–600
  • Village / cultural guide: ₹300–500
  • Mawlynnong entry guide: ₹200–300
  • Cave guide (Mawsmai, Siju): ₹150–250

How to arrange a guide

  1. Mention 'local guide required' in Special Requests when booking — we coordinate this.
  2. For Nongriat trek: guides are arranged at Tyrna village. Tell us 48 hours in advance.
  3. For Mawlynnong cultural walks: guides available at the village entrance.
  4. Language: Khasi + Hindi + basic English. Specify 'English-fluent guide' if needed.
  5. All our guide recommendations are verified locals — not touts.

Packing List

  • Light rain jacket or poncho — essential year-round in Cherrapunji
  • One warm fleece or light jacket (highlands get to 10-15°C at night)
  • Comfortable walking shoes with grip (not slippers for treks)
  • Waterproof sandals for Krang Shuri wading
  • Extra pair of socks — long mountain drives = sweaty feet
  • Full-sleeve layer for Shillong evenings (Dec–Feb can drop to 4-8°C)

Motion Sickness & Driver Pace

⚠️

Disclaimer: The tips below are general travel suggestions and personal comfort measures — not medical advice. We are not responsible for any health decisions made based on this page. For any medical condition or medication, please consult a qualified doctor before your trip. All tips are strictly at your own discretion and preference.

💺

Sit in the front passenger seat

The front seat has less angular movement and gives you a view of the road ahead. This single change helps many travelers. Ask your driver — they will always accommodate.

🌬️

Keep windows slightly open

Fresh mountain air helps significantly. Even a 2cm gap makes a difference. Avoid full-blast AC in the back seat — the temperature contrast with outside air can worsen discomfort.

🫚

Ginger candy (home remedy — results vary)

Some travelers find crystallized ginger or ginger tea soothing before and during the drive. Peppermint candies may also help. These are traditional home remedies — individual results vary. Avoid heavy, oily, or spicy meals before a long hill drive.

👀

Look at the horizon, not your phone

The conflict between your inner ear's motion signals and your eyes staring at a still screen is a common trigger. Look at the road ahead or distant hills. Put your phone away on winding sections.

🛑

Request a stop the moment you feel unwell

Tell your driver immediately if you feel nauseous — no need to push through. All our drivers carry bags just in case. A 10-minute fresh-air stop is far better than 2 hours of discomfort.

🩹

Acupressure wristbands (personal preference)

Wristbands that apply pressure to the P6 point are a non-medication option some travelers prefer. These are available in pharmacies. Effectiveness varies by individual — not a guaranteed remedy.

🐢 Request Gentle Driving When You Book

When filling out your booking form, use the "Special Requests" field to let us know. We pass these notes directly to your driver the evening before your trip — no rushing, no judgment.

Copy-paste any of these examples:

"One person in our group gets motion sickness. Please drive gently on curves and be ready to stop if needed."
"Please avoid sharp braking on the Cherrapunji road. We prefer a slower, steadier pace even if it adds time."
"Elderly passenger — please drive slowly and avoid overtaking on sharp turns."
